Profile

We are an independent, non-sectarian, non-profit, college preparatory school serving students in grades Nursery through 12th. The school was founded in 1964 and is governed by a 22-member Board of Trustees, which appoints the Headmaster.

The School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. It was first accredited in 1978 shortly after the first graduation in 1976. Country Day School was the first school on the island to receive institution wide accreditation, Nursery - 12. In 1996, the School adopted a new accreditation protocol, Accreditation for Growth. This protocol operates on a five-year cycle and encourages the school to engage in long range planning.

The student body of 490 is multi-cultural; the 2002-2003 student body breakdown: 47% Caucasian, 41% African-American, 8% Hispanic, and 4% International.

Fifth grade students enjoy studying Ancient Greek architecture.
