Profile
We
are an independent, non-sectarian, non-profit, college preparatory
school serving students in grades Nursery through 12th. The
school was founded in 1964 and is governed by a 22-member Board
of Trustees, which appoints the Headmaster.
The School is accredited by the Middle States Association of
Colleges and Schools. It was first accredited in 1978 shortly
after the first graduation in 1976. Country Day School was the
first school on the island to receive institution wide accreditation,
Nursery - 12. In 1996, the School adopted a new accreditation
protocol, Accreditation for Growth. This protocol operates on
a five-year cycle and encourages the school to engage in long
range planning.
The student body of 490 is multi-cultural; the 2002-2003 student
body breakdown: 47% Caucasian, 41% African-American, 8% Hispanic,
and 4% International.
Fifth grade students enjoy studying Ancient
Greek architecture.
