The Virgin Island Olympic committe has selected two scholar-athletes to represent the Virgin Islands in a special program during the 2008 Beijing Olypmics.
The two Country Day School students, one a member of the Virgin Islands National Swim Team and the other a member of the Virgin Islands National Sailing Team, will represent the V.I. in the Beijing Olympic Ambassador Program.
The ambassador program seeks to bring countries and their cultures together through the Olympic movement. Each of the 205 countries sending delegations to the 2008 Olympics is eligible to send one male and one female between the ages of 16 and 18 to the program.
The students will have the opportunity to see historic sites in China, meet and become friends with peer scholar-atheletes from around the world and see many of the Olympic events.
