The
Country Day Tigers scored a discrete and definitive victory
at this year's St. Croix MathCounts on Thursday, February
22 (a palindromic number that is also a deficient number)
at the Good Hope School. The day began with the 19th (prime
and abundant) Annual Bescette Breakfast of Champions at
the Golden Arches.
At the
competition, the CDS team table featured four (the first
composite integer) stuffed animal mascots that have become
our signature. The dedicated Mathletes, in another tradition,
chewed the Banned Study Aid, to keep their concentration.
The MathCountesses on the team proudly wore tiaras.
In
addition to being the top scorers, the five students (in
120 possible permutations) dominated the Countdown Round,
which was won by the Tiger Team Captain. With the winning
team and a high-scoring individual, CDS will send five (Mr.
Summerhayes's age divided by that number times 2) students
to the Virgin Islands MathCounts competition on March 8
(two cubed) on St. Thomas.
