You've
Been "Tartuffified"

Tartuffe, Moliere's most frequently performed play, is
a hilarious attack on religious hypocrisy. The main character
of the play is a wealthy man named Orgon who, in his old age
and fearing death, has become extremely religious and uses
his religion to control his family. The title character, a
swindler and a con, manages to gain Orgon's confidence and
becomes Orgon's spiritual guide. Orgon, so in awe of his new
mentor, offers his daughter in marriage and even turns over
the family fortune. Meanwhile the rest of the household, led
by a clever and comical maid, try to expose Tartuffe for what
he really is.
