CDS
On the Cutting Edge with Edline
This year
the Country Day Middle School has incorporated Edline, a cutting
edge web based program that helps teachers, students, and
parents communicate.
Students
and parents receive passwords that allow them to access different
kinds of information. Students can log on to check daily homework
assignments for individual classes, locate assignments they
may have left at school, and explore internet sites selected
by their teachers. A combined calendar allows parents and
students to get a big picture of what is going on in the Middle
School. Because Edline interfaces with the CDS grading program,
teachers very easily upload weekly progress reports for all
students, allowing parents and students to monitor academic
progress.
Teachers,
parents, and students are very enthusiastic about Edline.
Teachers are pleased that students are able to keep up with
class work when they are absent. Students have been able to
set goals for themselves and see their progress. Parents observe
that Edline has helped change the typical Middle School parent
-student dynamic. Rather than asking "What did you do
at school today?" they can say, "So how did that
experiment go in Science?"
Here
is what some of our parents have to say:
"I'm
reviewing (my child's) Ediline reports and was just excited
to be using this valuable tool and learning its potential
! "
"Thanks
for your support and dedication to making Country Day School
better and more efficient. The new Edline site is great."
"Just
wanted to take a moment before I left the office
to tell you that I love Edline and believe it will be
a big help for all involved!"-
"I
am giving Edline a run-through and just want to thank you
for working so hard to display your class information; this
will be wonderful to use this year."
