Students
raise money for Katrina victims

Traditionally
every year the Student Council of the Country Day School holds
a pool party at the beginning of the academic year. This year
they decided to make this event a fundraiser for the survivors
of Hurricane Katrina.
The theme
of Fridays party was Mardi Gras in honor of Louisianas
rich cultural heritage. Cajun food and Mardi Gras beads were
sold. Upper school students could also pay $2.00 per person
to have the privilege of a relaxed dress code for the day.
The event raised over five hundred dollars.
The National
Honor Society held a very quiet fundraiser for Katrina victims
this week as well. Members spent last weekend making macramé
bracelets. They raised three hundred dollars.
All proceeds
from both events were used to buy book bags and school supplies
for students displaced by Katrina. Amazon.com will match all
funds donated.
