CDS Adds SMART Boards to Classrooms
| SMART
Board Interactive Whiteboards combine the power of a computer, projector and digital
whiteboard technologies. | | |
CDS is pleased
to announce the addition of the SMART Boards to seven of our classrooms.
"Anything
you can do on a computer or on the Web, you can now do with
the entire class - at once - without being glued to the classroom
computer." says Middle School math teacher, Ms. Murray. "It's
an incredible tool."
| Ms.
Murray and Lower School computer instructor, Mr. Garren,
quickly saw the educational potential of the SMART boards
when Ms. Murray attended the Math and Technology Conference
at the Peddie School in New Jersey, utilizing ProGrow funds. |

Headmaster
Sadler was impressed by their findings and, by means of a Title
6 educational grant, the school was able to order seven boards;
three for the Upper School, three for the Middle School and one
for the Lower School computer lab.
The interactivity
of the boards is what our teachers are most impressed with.
The screens are touch sensitive and a very useful instrument
for students to exhibit Power Point presentations and Web-based
reports they have created. The screens may also be used as electronic
whiteboards, enabling instructors to present enhanced lessons
and save lessons to disk for students who are absent for lectures.
Additionally, the boards are video and DVD compatible, so that
instructional media may be viewed using the technology.
