"Babes" Sing and Dance Their Way Into Our Hearts
There is something for everyone
to enjoy at the performance of Babes In Arms, Country Day School's latest Broadway-style
spring musical. | | Set
in 1950s Cape Cod, a group of ambitious, starving apprentices literally steal
the show from the treacherous theatre owner who is running their beloved playhouse
into the ground. |
| These teenaged
"babes" use every tool at their disposal for the chance to perform in
front of an audience and to be seen by the people that can make them stars. Not
surprisingly, there is quite a bit of backstabbing and mischief.

 | | "I
am always amazed by the talent our students display," says Director Duane
R. Minton. "Most people are aware of how well our kids sing and act, |
| but
I think the big surprise will come when the dancing is experienced. The dance
numbers take this show to a new level." | | |
 | | The
orchestra, led by Loren Hughes, has been working equally as hard. "We are
proud that our school has been able to assemble a pit orchestra out of our most
talented music students rather than bringing in professional musicians,"
says Headmaster Jim Sadler. "It really enhances the live theater experience,
and it is a major achievement for our students to learn and play an entire musical
score." |
Babes
In Arms will be performed in the CDS Pavilion. Tickets are $7.00 for adults and
$3.00 for students. Performance
