Spike in Gothenburg Sweden, October 07

DAY TWO
Hej!

I had a fun day today! But first I had to go to work. Ms. Deevy's brother took me to work with him.
He is visiting the place where Volvo trucks are designed and tested.

He took me
to work on a trolly. As soon as we got off, we could see the Volvo buildings, some trucks, and a lot of people going to work. I stopped for a picture.

Volvo Factory

Most of the day, I hid in his computer bag. At lunch, we had
a Swedish meal of pea soup and pancakes with strawberry jam - it was good! Some people put mustard in the pea soup! They
serve this in the cafeteria every Thursday. During lunch, one
of the Volvo guys invited us to visit his house after work. He
said that he had two children!

We stayed at work pretty late, but finally we drove 20
kilometers, or 12 miles, away from the city of Gothenburg. We
stopped to pick up the man's daughter, named Lovisa, at her
friend's house. Lovisa is a very pretty and kind girl who is 7
years old. She's in 1st grade! She speaks only Swedish, but
is learning a few words in English.

Next, we drove to her yellow house which is at the end of a narrow road and surrounded by trees. Soon after we went
inside, I came out of the computer bag & Lovisa gave me a big hug!

She took me upstairs to her bedroom, and introduced me to her other dog friends. I learned that the Swedish word for dog
is "hund". Here are some pictures of Lovisa and me in her bedroom with her friends.

Lovisa & Friends

Soon, Lovisa's brother Jacob came home riding his bicycle. He is 11 years old and is learning to speak English quite well.
Next, her mother came home and brought some pizza for us to eat. After the pizza, we sat by the fireplace and ate some
chocolate cookies that Lovisa had baked!

I stayed until everybody was tired and falling asleep.

By the Fireplace

I was tired too! Finally, Lovisa's father took me back to my hotel.

Tomorrow I will travel again, but I'll send more pictures as soon as I can. Bye!

DAY ONE
God dag!

I just arrived at a far way city called Gothenburg! It's in the country of Sweden, in Europe. Since this place is pretty far north, the days get very short in the winter. Even now in the fall the days are getting short. I went out to see some things right after I got here. It was 4:30 in the afternoon, but it was already getting dark! It was also a light rain, so I got my paws a little wet. I couldn't stay out long, but here's what I saw...

Near my hotel in the city, there are canals that are more than 300 years old. These are like roads for boats.

People used them long ago to carry things around the city in boats, since there were no trucks and buses. There are no boats in them anymore though. They are really nice, with stone walls and cool old bridges. A lot of people were out walking along the canals, going home from work & school. In the first picture, I'm sitting on the wall of a canal, and you can see some people walking across the bridge behind me.

Here I am sitting by a canal

Next I went to see things along the river in Gothenburg. The river is called the Gota alv. Since Gothenburg is close to the ocean, ships from the ocean can go right up the river. I saw a really cool sailing ship called the "Viking", and got my picture taken in front of it. Did you ever hear of Vikings? They were famous sailors a long time ago, and this is one place where they lived. This ship was named in memory of them.

This ship is called "The Viking"

There's also an opera house along the river. They have shows there called operas, which have a lot of singing. There's a picture of me outside of the opera house. There are boats all around it!

Reporting from outside the
Opera House

I wanted to go inside the opera house to see it, but there was a sign on the door that said I wasn't allowed in!

Oh no! No dogs allowed
inside the Opera House
Look at that picture! I was able to sneak in anyway, and I got to see the lobby where people buy their tickets. That's the last picture for today.

I don't know what I'll do tomorrow. We'll just have to wait and see!
I'm being a wee bit naughty...but here I am inside the Opera House!

Adjö så länge!
