Characteristics

In the desert it can go as high temperatures as 122 F and low as -22 F.  The mammal life in the desert is low, but there is mammals like wolves, wild cats, foxes, big horned sheep, and rats.  The reptiles in the desert are like tortoises, snakes, and lizards and many more.  The plants have shallow roots or deep roots to get as much water as possible and are succulent to hold water.  The plants are like cacti, palms, grasses, bush, and wild flowers.  The desert covers 20% of the earth hot and cold the largest desert is Antarctica.  The four different kinds of deserts are hot and dry, cold, semiarid, and coastal.

In my diorama there is animals that I said like rats, snakes, and sheep.  I chose those animals because they were common animals in the desert.  I used a cardboard box that I painted brown.  Then I used clay for the animals and plants and sand for the dry desert ground.  I used Styrofoam balls cut in half for sand dunes and a picture from the internet of a desert glued to the back round.
