Third Grade students will be able to: | ![]() |
Enter text in a word processing document, learn basic formatting, and learn to navigate inside the document. They will learn to use the insert, delete, and backspace keys to edit the text, and use the tab key to indent for paragraphs. Additionally they will learn how to copy/cut and paste in a word processor. Finally, they will spell check their documents, save, open, and create new documents
Enter information into a simple spreadsheet. They will format the information, and learn to do simple formulas based on age appropriate math facts.
Demonstrate the ability to save and retrieve their work to/from the hard drive, disk drives, and the network.
Demonstrate proper care and handling of all disks, correctly inserting and ejecting them from their drives.
Practice responsible and ethical use of all electronics media according to copyright law.
Get on the internet and learn to navigate in pre-determined web sites.
Have knowledge of basic keyboarding rules and begin to use touch typing skills.
Be able to identify the ways technology has changed the lives of people in communities.
Learn to logon and off the network, access their files and folder and learn the concept of permissions, shared folders, and private folders.
Learn organizational skills using INSPIRATION/KIDSPIRATION.
Learn spatial relationships using LOGO/MICROWORLDS. They will also begin to learn simple programming concepts.

Fourth Grade students will be able to: |

Use appropriate keyboarding techniques when using the computer, and continue their accuracy in the skill of touch typing.
Further their use of spreadsheets by using more complex formulas and graph information they’ve collected.
Learn to copy & paste from one software package to another (and file to file).
Learn to utilize a presentation software package and give presentations in front of the class.
Practice responsible and ethical use of all electronics media according to copyright law.
Use e-mail and telecommunications to interact with human resources, i.e. authors, parents, and area experts.
Identify computers as tools for accessing information.
Using LOGO/MICROWORLDS, learn more involved programming concepts and create more involved pictures.
Learn basic database concepts and learn to recognize the databases in the world around us. They will create a simple database on their own.
Will learn how to create a basic webpage.

Fifth Grade students will be able to: |

Practice responsible and ethical use of all electronic media and on-line information resources according to copyright law. Learn to discriminate between questionable resources on the Internet.
Demonstrate appropriate keyboarding/touch typing techniques while maintaining accuracy and reasonable speed.
Use an organizational software package like Inspiration to plan their activities and goals, then use it as a guideline or map to complete their work.
Use a computer to design a newsletter page format using columns, line spacing, headers, footers, and margins. Learn how to incorporate what another student has done into the bigger picture.
Learn conditional formulas in a spreadsheet, and be able to create a spreadsheet and graphs on their own given a specific project outline. Learn to recognize when they would need to use a spreadsheet for their own projects, and be able to set the spreadsheet up on their own.
Use telecommunications to answer questions about a designated topic, and gather information from multiple sources.
Further their understanding of databases by creating a database for accessing information.
Understand the major events in the history of computing in the twenty-first century, and create a timeline on the computer.
Further their programming skills by using LOGO/MICROWORLDS to create a complex picture.
Will learn how to expand their webpage incorporating their past work from previous grades.

Sixth Grade students will be able to: |

Demonstrate mastery of basic terminology and procedures for using a computer.
Demonstrate an understanding of networking concepts: file servers, user names, passwords, access privileges, and network printing.
Learn how to choose appropriate hardware/software to complete a task.
Produce a report that has different components, graphics, and visuals that has been checked for grammar and spelling.
Collect, organize, and analyze problems using a spreadsheet they prepare, and present information in meaningful graphs, charts, or reports. Use sorting and searching techniques to solve a specific problem.
Create an original database, create fields, and format different layouts to sort and /or present information in various ways to solve a problem.
Demonstrate an understanding of the value and responsible uses of technology.
Demonstrate mastery of basic Internet skills: telecommunications concepts, browsers, search engines, and ethical use.
Create multimedia projects with linking buttons, imported pictures, movies, and sound.
Create Web Pages - using word-processing, graphics packages, and a web browser, containing links and graphics.
