ENGLISH - Colleges require four years. LANGUAGES - Most colleges require a minimum of two years. Many require three years. Selective colleges want four years; two and two are acceptable, but four years of one language is preferred and also desirable for many reasons, such as foreign study or travel. A proficiency in a language is an asset in obtaining employment in many fields. Many colleges also require a language proficiency for graduation. MATH - Most colleges require at least three with highly selective colleges preferring completion through Pre-Calculus or Calculus. SCIENCE - Most colleges require two years of a science. Many colleges and nursing programs prefer, and some require, three years (biology, chemistry, and physics. Many colleges require the three years of a science for entrance into a science or engineering major. OTHER - An art portfolio is required by many art colleges. Most music and theater programs require an audition. |
