To help you get started in the right direction, follow the guidelines of the Freshmen Year Table


 

Freshmen Year Timetable

August-September

_____ Make sure that your course selections meet the requirements for high school graduation and for the colleges you may wish to attend.

_____ Set up a permanent file for school records.

September-December

_____ Encourage your parents to attend back-to-school night so they will become familiar with your class schedule, teachers, and school.

_____ Explore extracurricular activities and begin participating in one or more activities.

_____ Begin investigating possible careers.

_____ Set up a reading program to develop your vocabulary.

January

_____ Prepare for semester tests because colleges are interested in your grades.

_____ Make possible program changes for second semester.

January-May

_____ Discuss educational goals with your guidance counselor.

_____ Review your four-year plan of classes and select appropriate courses for the next school year.

June

_____ Prepare for second-semester tests.

_____ Complete your written record of ninth grade.

_____ Save samples of your work, newspaper clippings, and copies of your grades and place them in the permanent record you are keeping.

Summer

_____ Continue reading program.
