Message to applicants for teaching positions:

St. Croix Country Day School is proud that we have a talented, dedicated, and stable faculty. It is our greatest strength. The 55 teaching professionals in our school community have more than 1,000 years of teaching experience with more than 500 of those years here on St. Croix at Country Day. Each year we have a Ten-Year Dinner for all faculty and staff who have been at the school for ten years or longer; this year we will have more than 35 people at the table.

Because of this stability, openings at the school are rare, usually no more than a couple per year. Usually but not always, we are able to fill those vacancies with teachers who are already living on St. Croix. For obvious reasons, we prefer to hire qualified people who are familiar with and comfortable in the local community. We encourage teachers who move to the island to register with us as substitutes, and often we hire the best of our sub pool when a vacancy occurs. If we cannot find a teacher with the credentials and experience we want on St. Croix, we will review the resumes we have received from the mainland and overseas.
