June 2008
Dear
Parent(s),
Welcome
to Country Day Summer Camp 2008! With new staff and fresh ideas,
this summer's program is sure to be a hit! We can't wait to
work and play with your camper.
Your
camper is registered for the week(s) indicated on the registration
form. Please be advised that if you do not intend to use your
space, we must be notified by the Friday prior to the week your
camper will not attend. Otherwise, you will be billed. Camp
fees are due at the beginning of each week that your camper
attends. Also, if your child's behavior causes him/her to be
suspended from camp, no refund will be made for that week.
Parent
cooperation is extremely important in helping our program run
smoothly. The following are ways that you can help. Please read
these suggestions carefully, and do your best to support us
by following them.
- Camp
begins at 8:30 a.m. There will be staff in the Pre School
building at 7:00 a.m., but earlier drop offs are not permissible.
Before Camp Care is billed at $4.00 prorated from 7:00 a.m.
to 8:00 a.m. Arrivals after 8:00 a.m. are not billed.
- Activities
begin promptly at 8:30. Latecomers disrupt our schedule, so
please be on time. Please call us before 8:30 if your camper
will be absent.
- Campers
should be comfortably dressed for an active day. We'll be
outdoors a great deal of the time, so "play" clothes
are a must. A swimsuit and towel will be needed each day.
Sunscreen is also a good idea. We encourage all personal belongings
to be labeled with a permanent marker. Sneakers or sandals
with heel straps should be worn each day. Slip-on shoes slip
off easily when running. For this reason, "slippers"
or "flip flops" are only permitted on Fridays.
- Jewelry
should not be worn to camp. Items that are removed are often
lost and we cannot be held responsible.
- Group
1 Campers should come to camp with bathing suits under their
regular clothing. This will mean more swim time due to less
changing time!
- Water
guns, C.D. players, Game Boys, etc., are not allowed at camp.
Group 5 Campers may have special privileges that will be planned
in advance.
- Food
is very important for active campers. We will be participating
in the government food program, but a daily snack will be
necessary. Plenty of juice and water should be packed daily.
- Group
1 Campers should bring a rest mat or beach towel for rest
time in the afternoons. They may also bring toys that are
marked with their names to play with during the day.
- Please
feel encouraged to send any "Summer Reading" books
to camp.
- On Beach
Day Fridays, lunch should be packed. On occasion we will offer
a special lunch at an additional cost. If your camper does
not participate, we ask that you send lunch for them on that
day. Notices of these special events will be sent in advance.
- Camp
ends promptly at 3:00. If your camper is not picked up, he/she
will be placed in After Camp Care. After Camp Care is offered
daily from 3:00-5:30 p.m. at a cost of $4.00 per hour per
child. A $1.00 per minute fee begins with any pickups after
5:30. If a child is repeatedly picked up after 5:30, After
Camp Care privileges may be revoked.
This
year girls and boys will have their own sleepover. We hope that
this will be a positive change that will allow us to include
more appropriate activities, encourage group cohesiveness, and
give our counselors a chance to better get to know your camper.
Boys ages 7-14: June 27th
Girls ages 7-14: July 11th
In
our attempt to better serve the community, we are offering camp
to children up to the age of 14. It is our hope that each child
will come to camp with the expectation of a good time in a safe
environment. Please take the time to gauge whether or not your
child is still of the age to enjoy camp.
Thank
you so much for your help in providing a safe and fun Summer
Camp experience for your child. We know your camper will have
a wonderful time with us. If you have any questions or concerns,
please feel free to contact us either in the office, or by phone.
Sincerely,
Nicole Dunton , Director
